Zara has recently dipped her toes into the world of writing, producing and directing short films.

Box Red is her first official short film, which she co-wrote, produced and performed in. Box Red was an extremely collaborative affair, with input and ingenuity from all the actors, creatives and crew, to whom she is ever thankful. Zara is very grateful and proud that Box Red premiered at Sunderland Shorts Film Festival in the Experimental category 2018, was shortlisted for Best Short in the Birmingham Film Festival 2018 and selected for the Prisma Independent Film Awards 2018.

Following on from Box Red, Zara was Acting Coach, Producer and Actor on three 1-minute films shot on an iPhone with the brilliant Mari Yamamura as DoP. One of the films, I Promise, shot guerrilla style on the streets of London, was shortlisted for the Filminute Festival 2017 and won the Cineuropa Shorts Audience Award, which was a heartwarming surprise.
